Kick Start

Today I have been working hard on my Summer learning journey task. We were learning about the difference between vector art and Raster art. Firstly  Raster art are pictures made up of tiny little pixels/Squares that you can't see until you zoom in. But when you zoom in the quality of the picture gets lower. But Vecture art is not made of tiny pixels and when you zoom in everything stays the same and it all looks better. After we watched the video for our kick start activity we had to make a christmas decoration or if you don't celebrate christmas then make a decoration for you house. In the decorations we Had to put something like how your family is unique Ect.

I had a difficult time thinking of what to put on mine but after a while I finally came up with the idea of putting a stag in a circle ball becuase my family are outside a lot so It resembles nature and christmas. And If you would like to please comment on what sort of christmas or house decoration you would make. Matewa

  1. Kia ora Charlotte! I love the thought you have put into a Christmas decoration that reflects your family and with the beautiful balance of colours! The stag also reminds me of reindeers, and particularly Rudolf, who is my personal favourite! I too, like to spend time outdoors, particularly at Christmas and over summer when the weather is warm and involves water sports! I love to kayak, tramp and spend time in the pool with my grandchildren. We put up a water slide over the weekend and my grand-daughter had a blast, slipping and sliding down into the pool below. You mentioned that your family spends time in the outdoors - what sorts of activities do you get up to?
Thank you as well for explaining the difference between vector and raster images - not many people understand this so it was super cool that you explained for others to learn from - I know I did! I really like reading the detail on your blog and I will be sure to come back and follow your Summer Learning Journey blogging. Have a great week! Nga mihi nui, Naomi (Manaiakalani Facilitator)

Firstly thank you so much for commenting on my blog becuase I have been a bit behind on some of the tasks though I have started to work through them. I'm glad you learnt something from my explanation. And what we do outdoors are at christmas time we usually have a christmas brunch outside while after that we go play on the tramp and in the pool AND.. on New years we go other and we play spot light after dinner but that's just christmas. Other than on christmas day we go fishing and Hiking while me and my brother sometimes skateboard. So we are actually very busy quit often.

  2. Mōrena Charlotte,

It’s Charlotte here, a blog commenter for Manaiakalani. Ka pai on completing the Vector Art, Kick Start activity!

You have included so much information into your blog post! Including lots of information about the activity you have done helps your blog readers to understand - well done!

I like how you have included Christmas colours on your decoration (red and green). When I completed this activity I chose to make a circle decoration (just like you) but I included a picture of the beach inside the circle because my family always like to go to the beach during Christmas time! What does your family like to do during Christmas?

  3. Kia ora Charlotte, Matua Jacob here! I love your Vector artwork! It is really nicely composed and the simple design is aided by those little details you have added in, like the bow and the dots inside the border! Really fantastic to see you give this a go! Keep up the great work!
